Roses are red

A Tried and Tested Recipe for Love
Certain essential oils are renowned for their sensual qualities. Rose, is synonymous with love and romance. Its deep scent relaxes, lifts the spirits, stimulates the senses and promotes feelings of acceptance and openness. Rose was used by ancient Egyptians, Chinese, Greeks and Indians and was a favorite of Cleopatra, who lined her chamber floors with fragrant petals to seduce Marc Antony.
Get in the Mood
You too can set the mood for love. Put on some soft music, turn down the lights and scent the rooms with candles or diffuser lamps. As romantic scents fill the gently lit rooms, slip into a bath filled with aromatherapy and mineral salts for a long, sensual soak with you partner. After the bath, share another intoxicating experience with a aromatherapy massage oil. Working upwards from the legs, use gentle, loving strokes toward the heart. You'll find the hands and feet particularly receptive to touch and the trapezius -- the thick triangular muscle above the shoulders -- is a great place to massage for tension relief. Energize Your Day with Aromatherapy

Invigorate Your Day

Pep Up at the Office

Using aromatherapy in a spritzer before a workout isn't the only way to boost energy. Waking up to the workday can be enhanced by an aromatic, energizing shower using essential oils. Whether you use aromatherapy soap,  shower gels and lotions, or add your own selection of oils to an unscented liquid soap, you can work up a rich, invigorating lather with a soft natural sponge. Lock in that energy by adding essential oils to a vegetable carrier oil or unscented cream and apply as an after-shower body moisturizer.

If energy is flagging during the day, try adding a few drops of a favorite essential oils to a tissue or handkerchief and breathing in the aroma. The cooling, comforting effect of peppermint is especially effective in penetrating stuffy heads, especially when post-lunch sleepiness strikes. Massaging the temples lightly with a blend of energizing oils diluted in a good carrier oil is another handy pick-me-up that can be used in the office. For added clarity, diffuse the powerfully fresh aroma of rosemary throughout your workspace by adding a few drops to an aromatherapy candle lamp.

Back at Home Mood

To invigorate tired muscles at the end of a long day, draw a warm bath and add 6 to 12 drops of essential oil just before you get in. By combining an energizing oil like lemon with a relaxing and soothing oil such as lavender, you can soak aching limbs and create a balanced atmosphere that won't make you drift off to sleep. For a revitalizing massage, add 12 drops of a restoring and strengthening essential oil like rosemary to an ounce of carrier oil and work gently over tired areas in gentle, even stokes.

Much has been written about aromatherapy, but the way in which essential oils work is often misunderstood. Unlike synthetic fragrances commonly used in beauty products, pure essential oils are natural extracts derived from plants. The biochemical composition of each aroma stimulates the part of the brain that affects emotion and has a direct physiological effect on the central nervous system. Depending on the desired mood, essential oils can be used on their own, or blended with other essential oils to extend the range of the effect. Cinnamon leaf, for example, is refreshing and vitalizing when used alone, but by adding a few drops of peppermint and sweet basil, you can create a blend with cooling and strengthening elements.

50 ways to Use Essential Oils

Balance and Harmony

The rich, warm aromas of the Sandalwood and Musk lend themselves especially well to aromatherapy blends that restore balance and harmony. Sandalwood oil has a deep, balsamic, woody aroma while Musk has a warm, balsamic fragrance. The tear drops of resin released from the bark are distilled by a steam process into essential oil. Long before they were treasured by biblical kings and wise men, these essential oils figured prominently in the traditions of many cultures. Essential oils extracted from plants were used for ceremonial, cosmetic and medicinal purposes in Ancient Egypt. Modern day aromatherapy uses these same scents to create positive feelings and emotions. Aromatherapy - the use of pure essential oils to enhance mind, body and spirit - is a simple concept from which anyone can benefit. When diffused into the air, essential oils trigger emotional responses through the limbic system of the brain, and can be used for relaxing, stimulating or uplifting effects. Although there are many so-called "aromatherapy" products on the market, only pure essential oils have therapeutic qualities - the synthetic fragrances can't fully duplicate the complex composition of pure essential oils

Aromatherapy and meditation work together

Meditation awakens the intuition. When combined with aromatherapy, it becomes both an indulgent treat and a mini-vacation for an overworked mind. Essential oils work like a key to unlock our sensory system, triggering memories and emotions in the limbic system of the brain. When stimulated, the limbic system releases chemicals that affect our central nervous system, counteracting negative feelings such as anxiety, pain and negativity. Used to complement a meditative state, aromatherapy can help you to achieve a balanced, insightful frame of mind that will affect your mood in a very positive way. Patchouli, one of the most distinctively fragranced herbs, has a rich, exotic scent that is comforting and relaxing. It blends well with rosewood, which is a gently strengthening and relaxing oil." Lemon is also used in the blend. Its uplifting and cleansing properties can help to dispel mental fatigue and psychological heaviness. Studies have suggested that diffusing lemon oil throughout a busy office building can cut typing errors in half. The warm, penetrating energy of lemon is further complemented by the uplifting and rejuvenating qualities of jasmine essential oil. It's been documented that meditation can help the body to shake off stress and consequently boost the immune system. A state of deep relaxation can also create surprising flashes of inspiration and clarity by unscrambling thoughts. Try it when you are most worried about a problem -- emptying your head and relaxing your brain often creates the space for that brilliant idea to surface!
If you're new to meditation, we recommend the following simple steps:
Find a quiet place where you won't be disturbed. If you are at your desk, take your phone off the hook and turn off your computer.
Place 5-6 drops of the Meditation blend in an Aura Cacia lamp ring or diffuser and allow the aroma to fill the atmosphere around you.
Sit in a comfortable, upright position with your hands laid in your lap.
Close your eyes and let your breathing slowly become natural and relaxed.
Take a mental walk through a beautiful, sunny landscape. Feel the warmth and peace that surrounds you. Keep breathing in the clarifying aroma slowly and deeply.
After 20 minutes, open your eyes and slowly come out of your Meditation.

When you have become accustomed to meditating on a regular basis, you will find that you emerge feeling calm, centered and refreshed for the tasks that lie ahead. Essential oils can be used in many ways to induce a state of relaxed clarity. (They are very concentrated, so always dilute them in a good carrier oil such as  Grapeseed Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil and Sweet Almond Oil before applying to the skin). For a contemplative soak, slip a Meditation mineral bath into warm water and relax for twenty minutes by candlelight. Alternatively, add 3-4 drops of the single essential oil blend to a handkerchief and inhale the aroma at intervals while relaxing your breathing. Lamp rings, available in ceramic or brass, provide an ideal way to diffuse your home or office with positive mental energy.
