| Usage It is used primarily for the stomach and liver. In low doses, it acts as a liver tonic and supports in conditions of liver congestion, jaundice and hepatitis. It is best used for indigestion, chronic headaches, diarrhea and in recovery from long-term illness through improved appetite. It is helpful with menstrual complaints, symptoms associated with PMS, and difficult menstruation through support of hormone regulation. Blessed Thistle also helps to increase a nursing mother's milk supply. |

| History Blessed Thistle as a medicinal agent dates to the early 1500's and is referred to in early discourses as a cure all. Early writers such as Turner, Gerard and Culpepper mention it in treatment for the Plague, but it was more often used as a stimulant tonic able to improve general weakness and debility. It was recommended for poor appetite, to improve circulation and for headaches. It was used in the digestive liqueur Benedictine. Usage Warnings Do not use during pregnancy.Should be avoided by those suffering from stomach ulcers. |
