Important Nutrient For Supporting Enhanced Mental Performance And Function!*

Powerful amino acid for improved metabolism and brain function!

Acetyl-L-Carnitine is a stabilized & more absorbable form of the amino acid L-Carnitine. Acetyl-L-Carnitine plays an important role in protecting & supporting brain & muscle function. As an antioxidant, Acetyl-L-Carnitine protects neurons from damage caused by superoxide radicals.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine is involved in aspects of neuronal metabolism because its molecular structure resembles the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Supplementing with Acetyl L-Carnitine may improve acetylcholine production & stimulation of protein & membrane phospholipid synthesis.

L-Carnitine has been shown to:

  • Protects & supports brain & muscle function from superoxide radicals
  • Essential to Healthy Metabolism
  • Improve Energy & Fat Loss
  • Improves Exercise capacity
  • May Enhance cognition.
  • Involved in the metabolism of food into energy.

Acetyl-l-carnitine is a molecule that occurs naturally in the brain, liver and kidney and diminish as we age. Some of the primary used of acetyl L-Carnitine are as follows:

Showed a significant improvement in performances during after acetyl-l-carnitine treatment in the elderly.

Reports indicate that Acetyl-l-carnitine may be effective in the treatment of dementia.

Treated down syndrome patients showed statistically significant improvements ofvisual memory and attention both in absolute terms and in comparison with theother groups.

May significantly reduce severity of depressive symptoms in the elderly.

May improve both spatial and temporal memory, and reduce the amount of oxidative damage to RNA in the brain’s hippocampus, an area important in memory.

Research on Acetyl-L-Carnitine shows it can be very useful in supporting normal brain function, and possibly be useful for strokes, Down’s syndrome and the management of various neuropathies.

The effects of supplementing with carnitine has been extensively researched in many areas, including exercise performance, weight loss, treatment of Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, diabetic neuropathy, depression and other neurological disorders, treatment of alcoholism, treatment of cardiovascular diseases, insulin resistance, and many others.

Shown to positively impact brain function.

One double-blind trial has found that acetyl-L-carnitine may be helpful for people with degenerative cerebellar ataxia, a loss of muscular coordination caused by disease in the cerebellum (the hind part of the brain that controls muscle tone and balance). Several clinical trials suggest that acetyl-L-carnitine delays onset of ARCD and improves overall cognitive function in the elderly. In a controlled clinical trial, acetyl-L-carnitine was given to elderly people with mild cognitive impairment. After 45 days of acetyl-L-carnitine supplementation at 1,500 mg per day, significant improvements in cognitive function (especially memory) were observed. Another large trial of acetyl-L-carnitine for mild cognitive impairment in the elderly found that 1,500 mg per day for 90 days significantly improved memory, mood, and responses to stress. The favorable effects persisted at least 30 days after treatment was discontinued. Controlled and uncontrolled clinical trials on acetyl-L-carnitine corroborate these findings.

Improves exercise capacity and fat loss.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine facilitates the metabolism of fatty acids for energy generation. A greater reliance on fat for energy can result in a sparing of muscle glycogen, an enhancement of exercise performance and a reduction in stored body fat. Acetyl-L-Carnitine has profound effects on endurance and exercise performance by reducing the respiratory exchange ratio and reducing lactic acid accumulation in muscles extending exercise capacity before fatigue.

How does L-Carnitine work to help speed weight loss? What evidence is there that it works?

In a study of 18 overweight subjects, carnitine greatly increased weight loss. The subjects were split into two groups of 9. For 12 weeks, both groups ate a healthy diet and performed moderate exercise. One group was given 2000 mg of carnitine, and the other a placebo. In the placebo group, the average weight loss after 12 weeks was one pound. In the carnitine group, weight loss averaged 11 pounds. That’s an eleven-fold increase in weight loss, simply by increasing carnitine levels. Body fat percentage levels also decreased markedly in the carnitine group. However, not everyone will experience such a dramatic effect of weight loss with carnitine. In a recent study, individuals taking carnitine for 8 weeks did not experience increased weight loss.
